Help to ID - 1929 Kreis Cleve 50 Millionen Mark [Risolto]

Pubblicazioni di 3 • visto 53 volte

Hello everyone. I collect Canadian coins and notes so I'm looking for some help identifying this note I picked up at a local show. I couldn't find it within the pages of Numista and from what I was able to research is that in Germany, after World War II, when not enough state-produced money was available from the central bank, many German districts made their own currency aka “NotGeld”. This one looks like it came from the Cleve district located North of Cologne and looking at Google Translates attempt, it could only be used within this district and for only 4 weeks after a certain given date.

The note is 140cm x 83cm and no noticeable watermark.

How close am I? Does anyone have more information to add?

Thanks, Angus

Not WWII, WWI if you look at the date 1923.

There are countless emergency issues (Notgeld) from that time period and the catalog is far from complete. The translation is relatively decent but doesn't seem to recognise the long s in Kaſſe/Kasse - Treasurer's Office.

Right now we seem to have only 1 issue from the district/county and 3 city issues LINK.

If you want you can click the link ‘Add it yourself’ at the bottom of the link and add your note to the catalog (you can orientate yourself on the district note already there).

Oh my! L…First off I would like to express how sorry I am to all my history teachers and Grandfather because I know the dates of WWI & WWII. Secondly, thank you Idolenz for the help. I've added the note to Numista referencing the N# 324957 note. It's saying it's waiting for review. If it goes through it will be N#376491.

Thanks again for the quick reply.
