5 Kori - Victoria [Khengarji III] - Princely state of Kutch – Numista that one listed as minted between 1938-1943, and that is correct, but those years are AS not AD. And that breaks a time-based filter for someone who is looking for coins of a specific period. I am not sure whether that is an issue with coin definition itself or with numista not being able to specify year format.

Actually, I am getting more certain that it is a coin definition that needs to be changed - since coins have AD year on reverse, I suggest changing the listed year to the year from reverse and use the year from the year fields as a comment.  See 5 Kori - George VI [Khengarji III] - Princely state of Kutch – Numista for example.

The second example, with VS years in comments, is worse. The first example allows searching by VS years using the Year filter in search, and it is also better to place all of the date information together.

The problem is that the Years display doesn't identify the calendar. It currently says “Years 1938-1943 (1881-1886)” when it should clarify the calendar references with “Years VS 1938-1943 (AD 1881-1886)”. (VS preceding based on the second coin example you gave.)

In some cases Numista has redundant information when not necessary. All weights are in grams, but Numista still uses “Weight 13.83 g” instead of just “Weight 13.83”. But Numista uses multiple calendars without identifying which calendar is being used.

Calendar should also be specified near the mintage lines. Instead of Date/1938 (1881) maybe “Date VS(AD)” as the header.

Thank you for your reply. Now I am less certain how it needs to be, but your suggestion does make sense to me.

Also, I have just learned that there is a Gregorian Date filter in addition to Year filter that actually works (for this particular case), hence Numista knows what calendar was used for year definition.

Guidelines are clear on this: https://en.numista.com/help/calendar-136.html

Local calendar should be used in this case. I agree that calendar being in the top right box is maybe not enough and should be also show somewhere near yearlines.

I posted my suggestion for explicit listing of the calendar in the Numista Website forum.
