Hello,

Currently we have this currency for Belgium Francs:

Franc (1832-2001)

100 Centimes = 1 Franc

But we also have this note of 1 Belga!

So I propose we modify the currency description into:

Franc (1832-2001)

100 Centimes = 1 Franc • 5 Francs = 1 Belga

Always look on the bright side of life!

They tried to distance themselves from the French Franc after the monetary union but never succeeded.

The Belga was a currency unit of the Kingdom of Belgium from 1926 to January 8, 1946 and was equivalent to 5 Belgian francs/francs. After Belgium left the Latin Monetary Union, which had linked it to France, Switzerland, Italy and Greece, at the end of 1925 as a result of constant devaluations of its currency, the Belgian Minister of State Emile Francqui launched a program to stabilize the Belgian franc. One of the measures taken in the decree of October 25, 1926 was the creation of the Belga with a value of 5 Belgian francs/franc. This new currency unit was intended to replace the Belgian franc on the international foreign exchange market; with the Belga, Belgium also distanced itself from the French franc, with which parity had still existed within the framework of the Latin Coinage Union. At 0.209211 g of fine gold, the gold content of the Belga corresponded to that of the old five-franc piece. The exchange rate to the Reichsmark was 0.58 RM in 1930. From 1927 until the end of the Second World War, banknotes and treasury bills had a dual denomination of "Franc"/"Frank" and "Belga".

Only between 1930 and 1934 were three coins minted with a double value indication in " Franc" and "Belga", with the numerical Francs/Frank indication in the viewer's eye and the Belga inscription appearing subordinate. Pieces in nickel at 5 Francs/1 Belga and 10 Francs/2 Belga appeared in 1930, the latter on the occasion of the centenary of Belgium's independence, as well as large-format pieces at 20 Francs/4 Belga in 1931, but these were not very popular and were replaced in 1933 by silver pieces at 20 Francs, now without the "Belga" inscription. The Belgian population, like the markets, had never really accepted the new currency, but continued to calculate only in "francs". The Belga was therefore abolished with the decree law of January 8, 1946. Certain notes can still be exchanged at the Belgian National Bank.

Can I suggest we use the following?

100 Centimes = 1 Franc • 5 Francs = 1 Belga (1926-1946)
