I image this is either or bug or it has to do with a potential 30-character limit. If it there is a bug… here is the request pointing it out. If there is a limit, I can understand why, although I would like to suggest increasing the limit to 33 (because, with 33, you can achieve exactly three different date ranges on the French side with basically any ruler, and obviously the same number of ranges on the English side, with a couple characters to spare).
