Danbury mint sold many silver medals, under their own privy mark, but much, perhaps all of their output was actually struck elsewhere, by contractors. Two of those being Osborn Coinage, as seen on this 1971 Thomas Jefferson commemorative (not yet in catalog) -

and at The Mint, Heaton, Birmingham, England, as seen on this 1970 tricentennial piece.

Should Danbury Mint be a mint? They are still in business, currently they sell US mint stuff in presentation boxes.

Should these items have the mint of actual manufacture listed in the mint line?

Good point, a link to the initial request, based on that page:

Always look on the bright side of life!

If they ordered production and managed sales without actually minting coins, they shall appear as issuing entity

I guess they did both, minting and resale.

I guess they did both, minting and resale.

In this case we set them only as mints (when they actually minted the item) and do not duplicate info in issuing entity field

yes, I think they did both, at different times.

But the document with the Shell tokens is ambiguous -

“The coins were struck by The Danbury Mint (a subsidiary of Glendinning) at their mint in England”

This leads one down a rabbit hole. what facility was that in England? When and how long did Danbury own it?

What if anything did Danbury ever do or make at it's plant in Connecticut, USA?

I have resubmitted the Jefferson piece with Danbury as Issuing Entity, and Osborn Coinage as Mint.

I see the Mayflower piece has been already so amended.

Also, if anyone is interested, the Mayflower event in 1970 was a 350th anniversary , a Sesquarcentennial.

So this can be closed, right?
