Why am I now getting Forum notifications and how can I turn them off? [Risolto]

Good morning, I have recently started receiving Forum notifications but I don't remember changing any settings on my profile and the topics for which I'm receiving notifications appear to be fairly random and of no real interest to me. I did have a brief look through my profile settings and other than email forum notifications, which is turned off, I could find no way to turn off this new feature - please help.

Why was this addition created - what possible use is it? 

Yes there is a way to change email notifications - but not this icon at the top of the forum > 

 How to delete it so I NEVER get any more?

Yes it was answered. As I posted, Xavier replied there is no way to disable it and no plans to (at the moment).  

Yeah I have it for when someone posts in a forum that I posted in the past. I think the notifications should only show if a user responds to op post or is referenced.

Thanks all for your responses. It would appear we have answered the first part of the topic title but not the second. Let's hope one of the Admin team sees this and advises a solution to this bug.

It is not an error, this feature simple does not exists.

Your can turn off a topic reply notification, but you can not

• find which topics have notification and turn them off (see https://en.numista.com/forum/topic139553.html) or
• say “I do not want forum reply notifications by default” (you can publish a new suggestion with this or convert current topic in this suggestion).

Exactly how it works. Not a bug, you can unsubscribe manually to each thread you participated in. 

I understand it could be annoying so I let @Xavier  decide if he wants to develop a feature allowing users to chose if they subscribe to thread answers or not by default.

 Yes, and even before that, remove at the top of the Forum > 

 as in remove it completely from view, not wanting to 

see the ‘See my notifications (0)’ anywhere. Apart from which why was all this 

not already built into the new feature, so that members could choose to not have it - 

like so many other features, with a tick box?

Though that is only the first part - I just now unticked the box, 

but after that there is still this at the top of the forum page 

 As notifications are not required, then also that line should 

be linked to that unticking, and also not be there.

It makes this feature semi-useless if referees/admins are allowed to “op-out” of direct mention notifications.

I agree that anyone having responsibilities on Numista should be easily reachable through the forum

 Well, here we are, eight days later - and it is still there. 

Surely it is simple enough - if a member does not want forum notifications, 

then yes click the box to stop it. Then, at the same time, 

the pointless notification message at the top of the forum should also not be there. 

         No notifications = no seeing that (0) line. 

If only members had been consulted beforehand about implementing the feature in the first place, 

then someone would not have to go backwards to undo what some of us never wanted in the first place. 

I should say I have all notifications turned on (via email/notification) but I agree that users with all turned off, should not see the “See notifications” link.

I assume this will be fixed soon, when Xavier or dzmitry.huletski saw this topic.

The link to the notification page has been removed if you unticked all “Show me a notification” in your account settings.
