Adding Dates to your collection pieces

I think it could be nice to have the option to put a date on the coins in your collection. So you could for example have the date you got the coin. 

I know you can't put a comment on them, but you can't really look for date ranges. So you can't for example look for only coins from February 2023. Which could be useful if you want to know what you got all month. 

Also the date gets written differently around the globe so I can imagine the coins being sorted wrong when you use the US date system as a comment for example. 

I personally have a seperate account just for metal detecting and ground finds and it would be great if I could see how many or which coins I found in March 2023 for example. So this might not be useful for everyone, but I think it would be cool.

Well that just shows you when the coins where added to your collection on Numista. 

I have many coins from before I joined Numista. 

Also and more importantly, not every coin gets added on the day you get them. Especially if you work with bigger numbers of coins. Or if you simply don't have time. 

Most of my collector friends wait until the end of the week or month to add the coins to Numista cause they have to work during the week. 

Somethimes it also takes long to figure out what coin you have. For old coins it can take weeks or even longer until you find the correct type, especially if you work a lot or don't have a lot of time for your collection. 

When I buy coins on holiday I only add them after I get back too. 

The function you sow me is more for collection changes, if I for example notice that I added the wrong coin to my collection (which can happen with medieval or ancient coins) it will show me the "wrong" date/when I added the right type.

I think I made enough points to show that the function you showed me does not have the same function I am looking for

Another thing from my end. 

I know it's something that probably won't be added. The people of numista have more important stuff to do and Xavier doesn't like to add stuff that can be done differently (like here with comments, even though it has its problems it works for most people) or if it's not necessary. Which it isn't. It's just a suggestion for something I personally felt was missing and thought it might be cool. 

Especially for people that regularly buy and add big masses for their swap lists with lots the “journal of my collection” is just filled with duplicates, but not collection pieces.

I know it's something that probably won't be added. The people of numista have more important stuff to do and Xavier doesn't like to add stuff that can be done differently (like here with comments, even though it has its problems it works for most people) or if it's not necessary. Which it isn't. It's just a suggestion for something I personally felt was missing and thought it might be cool. 

Especially for people that regularly buy and add big masses for their swap lists with lots the “journal of my collection” is just filled with duplicates, but not collection pieces.

Add a filter with the action (the 2nd column of the list).

Completely agree.. and sometimes you write a suggestion which has a lot of likes, or even a good one which doesn´t have many, and no answer is obtained. Not all the suggestions here may be implemented and we can not expect that, that´s what they are: suggestions. But maybe just an answer from the people who manage this website that allowed us to know that our suggestion was heard, would be enough to know that we are doing good by giving ideas to this website we love.
