I confess, I do not like using foreign words in Spanish when there are a equivalent words in Spanish (e.g. email, on line, link, browser), and this occurs with “FAQ”.
Now Numista use the words:
- “FAQ” in the main menu, and it is used in this label in the page of translation “Websitte inteface”:
- cadre>documentation → (EN/DE/ES/FR) FAQ
- “Documentation center” inner the section, and it is used in these label in the page of translation “Websitte inteface”
- help>title →
(EN) Documentation centre
(DE) Dokumentationsbereich
(ES) Centro de documentación
(FR) Documentation - help>see_in_documentation_centre →
(EN) See in the documentation centre
(…) … - help_search>title →
(EN) Search the documentation centre
(…) …
- help>title →
This suggest is not important but I see some reasons or advantages:
- We have two names for the same thing: “FAQ” and “Documentation centre”.
- The English acronym FAQ it is not an easy translate word:
- (EN) frequently asked questions (FAQ)(Wikipedia EN)
- (DE) häufig gestellte Fragen (HGF) / meistgestellte Fragen / Fragen, Antworten, Quintessenzen / Fragen-Antworten-Quelle; but is most use the English word “FAQ”(Wikipedia DE)
- (ES) preguntas frecuentes (PP.FF.) / preguntas más frecuentes (P+F) / preguntas de uso frecuente (P.U.F.); but is most use the English word “FAQ”(Wikipedia ES)
- (FR) foire aux questions (FAQ); in this case the French expression “foire aux questions” was made to adjust it to the English acronym “FAQ”(Wikipedia FR)
- (IT; our next language) domande poste frequentemente; but is most use the English word “FAQ”(Wikipedia IT)
- “Help” is a word short, for use in main menu:
(EN) Help
(DE) Hilfe
(EN) Ayuda
(FR) Aide
(IT) Aiuto - “Help” is a word used in most computer programs, often the last option on the main menu.
- I think to see “help” is friendlier than “FAQ”, at least in languages other than English.
- The name “Documentation centre” is derived from the old Numisdoc section (Wayback Archive with Numisdoc), but here there are now help articles on using Numista, not documentation related to Numista.
- The internal code of Numista refers to this section as… “help” 😄 (see translation labels).
