Who else has noticed that there is a problem with the “Face Value” field in the search results.

e.g.

enter “0.01-0.02” in face value field and “USA” into issuer field and only 2 cent coins show up. Where are all the 1 cent coins? Enter just “0.01” and there they are.

enter “0.1-0.2” in face value field and “Cook Islands” into issuer field and only 10 cent coins show up.  Where are all the 20 cent coins? Enter just “0.2” and there they are.

Can IT please fix this problem, thanks.

As far as I am aware there is no range in that field and what you see is the system trying to make sense of your input.

If the system “makes sense” of an input it should:

  1. Explain that the input doesn't match expectations.
  2. Explicitly state the converted value that was used for the search.

Hiding a transformation causes confusion.

As far as I am aware there is no range in that field

How can I search the catalogue? – Numista

"Face value: Enter the face value of the item. The search results will show the items for which the numeric face value and/or the text face value matches your input.

  • You may enter a numeric value, for example 10, 0.05 or 1/20.
  • You may enter a range of value, for example 0.01-0.05."

It has worked fine in the past.  Been playing up for the last few months.

Hello,

Thanks for reporting the issue. It's fixed now.
(In programs, a face value of 0.01 is not necessarily greater or equal to 0.01 depending on how the numbers are stored 😅)
