Hello everyone,

I think the option to be able to add sales records from past auctions is a very good addition to Numista. It makes it easy for users to add these records themselves.

However, I have been wanting to systematically add sales records of certain (fairly recent) auctions, but I noticed that it seems to take multiple weeks, if not months, for the drop-down auction list to get updated with the latest auctions that have finished.

For instance, e-Auction #83 from Auctiones GmbH (see https://www.auctiones.ch/browse.html?search=&auction=85) finished 3 weeks ago, but the option to select it and enter sales records from that auction is not there yet:

Is there someone specifically responsible for updating these lists? Or can users add them in some way themselves? If not, maybe it would be a good idea if these were updated somewhat more regularly/frequently in order to be able to stay ‘on top’ of the latest developments in auction results.

My first thought on this would be to start a ‘referee-program’ for past auctions, so that members can become ‘auction-referees’ for certain auction houses just like they are able to become a referee for one or multiple issuers. I'm always glad to volunteer for things like this.

I look forward to hear your opinions on this.

Best regards,

Gerebernus

There is no specific position for this and I support the idea that there could be. :)

I also added the auction sale in question now :)

Thanks! I'd love to know if someone would get appointed to keep track of this or if an option to add auctions yourself will be implemented😉

We are moving in a direction where people will be able directly request changes to the database. This could include auctions as well.

I have to say that this is long development though, and won't be ready soon.

Alright, in the meantime I'll just tag you or another mod when another auction should be added 😉

What we could also in the meanwhile is to grant access to the DB to a volunteer who would be trained about how to add them directly. If someone wants to monitor recent sales and take this specific ownership over Numista :-)

Like I said, I'm always willing to give that a try 😀

Of course there is a difference between adding the recent sales and adding the recent finished auctions to the drop-down menu like I mentioned in my first post.

There are hundreds of auctions each month with tens (if not hundreds) of thousends of lots in total, so adding all these sales manually would be completely impossible 😅 but adding the recently finished auctions to the drop-down menu would definitely be doable for just 1 person, I think. The main thing is just to add these (more or less) as soon as the auctions have finished, so that the Numista users can add the sales from these auctions themselves whenever they want to.

Yeah I meant that sorry: not sales results themselves but finished auctions indeed
