Hello numista!

I believe I have found a swedish 25 öre from 1947 without a mint mark, however I am very new to collecting and therefore would love some  experienced input!

The mint mark TS should be found below the year. Here are two close-ups of the coin with light source from left and right.

Google has  provided no information regarding this being a known variety. The coin is far from UNC, which naturally makes wear a possibility.

However no other detail (including, crucially, in the vicinity where the mint mark should be) is worn down to the point where it has completely vanished. Additionally the numista-page mentions a 1944 variety without a mint mark.

I agree, no tooling marks apparent where the ‘TS’ should be.

1947 no ‘TS’ …?

Not sure there's a no 'TS" variety.  Maybe just a very weak “TS” strike in 1947?

@Mr. Midnight I have my doubts, but boy do I wish I can contribute to the numista page 😅

@rsirian1 a very weak strike plus some wear would be the most resonable answer. I just cant get over the difference in wear on the mint mark and remaining detail. The raised ridge is still noticable by touch, providing some protection. I took a second photo with flash and upped the contrast:

It could be a filled die error.

I'm not sure that the “1944 no mark” is actually a real variety. I don't believe the mark was left off the die (on purpose or not). More likely a faint mark with some wear:

I tend to agree. Many Scandinavian coins  the privy marks and dates are so tiny,  a fly spot could fill in - to say nothing of flying grease droplets from the machines.

I have some with very very faint digits/sigs.

Its a weak strike well known phenomana on swedish coin nickel and silver ones it happens enough to make it a non secutor in value or rarity

Most common on smaller denominations due to how small the mintmarks are and often very worn dies
