Of the top 20 nations, Mexico grew the fastest in October (4.3% increase), while Italy grew the slowest (0.8%). The USA grew by 1.3% and France grew by 1.7%.

User Participation rates for October (how many new users are actively cataloging items):

How many members are inactive during the last months? 1, 2, 6, 12, 24 or longer? Is that possible?

Thanks

These statistics are amazing!

I just have a doubt:

There were notable surges in memberships from … North Korea.

How many? I don't think this is real:

Disappointed to see New Zealand on those lists. Are Aidan and I the only Kiwis here?

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Agreed. I reported it /him as mere propaganda and rhetoric.

Which does NOT correspond to those numbers:

Maybe there is a bug somewhere, or in the member list only the members open for swaps are mentioned?

As did I. https://en.numista.com/forum/topic151774.html#p1194189 I was told to “lighten up.”

There are currently 1,010 members who say they are in New Zealand.

In October 2024 12 members who say they are in New Zealand joined.  Four added objects to their collection as of now.

That map doesn't locate members that just register as being from New Zealand without a more specific location (city).

Thanks for the explanation, but that's kind of a rubbish information then?

GIGO  If you don't tell me where you're from I can't locate you on a map.  Maybe for a small size country it doesn't seem to matter too much but if I tell you I live in the United States, come visit me I'm guessing you'd like a little more information.

Silly us. Only  the dear leader from N. Korea could join a group and complete a swap with a American Comrade in the U.S. the very next day.

There are currently 12 members who claim to be from North Korea.  Three (including the Great Leader) joined in October 2024 so 25% of the total joined last month which is a “surge” I guess.

Well, you see he's a handyman, at least he's a collector.  SWAP sends for their diplomat and it's there within 24 hours.  Do ambassadors have immunity and own government planes.  That's what changes, that's speed.

Please leave him between us.  Maybe they will learn something for life in our community.   We are a good community and we have a lot to offer in terms of - the relationship of people between the nations of the world.

Leave the dictator - he will get better - you'll see.

Interesting, I added nearly 400 coins in October,  yet I don't do swaps and somehow my name is absent from that list.

That is because that list is only a list of users who have a coins to swap.

Numista membership by year (through 07-Nov-2024)

Cool, thanks, but I still miss the inactive members?

Until this page (https://en.numista.com/forum/liste_membres.php) lists the Last access data or those who have access to it publish it we'll never know.

17 years for the first 250,000 members, 5 years for the second 250,000 members.

Here are some figures about active members. As  the same question was asked one year ago, we can compare and see the evolution.

  • 9 865 people updated their collection in the past 30 days (8255 last year; +20%).
  • 22 846 people posted on the forum at least once (19 653 last year).

In the past 365 days:

  • 66 368 people logged in to their Numista account (51 735 last year; +28%).
  • 34 195 people updated their collection (25 311 last year; +34%).
  • 1 955 people completed a swap and received a swap rating (1981 last year; -1%).
  • 4 456 people contributed to the catalogue (4121 last year; +8%).
  • 4 764 people posted a message on the forum (3567 last year; +34%).

Thank you, that's quite interesting, I'm surprised at the low number of swaps, maybe it's connected to the exploding postal costs and strengthened customs rules?
