Did something change with the Numista site where we must now verify our identity each and every  time we log in to Numista? Seems every time I visit recently, I must do so. Thanks in advance.

I don't need to log in on every visit. Is your browser set up to clear cookies?

I just logged in (using a private window) and I wasn't asked to “verify” anything, just username and password and I was in.

Unless I've overlooked something there don't seem to be any settings in the Numista profile that would affect this.

Thanks, probably on my side. I purchased a new antivirus and VPN product so maybe that is mucking things up.

There are some measures against different kind of fradulent activities on Numista, I would bet that VPN might be the culprit behind this. If the problem persists, then you can contact Xavier.

Thank you. I try not to bother him.

Hello,

I guess you are talking about this kind of verification:

It indeed appears based on different rules, including usage of some VPNs, in order to secure Numista.

Yes, you guessed right. Exactly what I am getting now. It's just that it happens very often, and sometimes even during the same session navigating the Numista site. Very annoying. I may consider attempting to bypass the VPN  option on several sites including Numista if that is even possible. VPN is new to me and I don't fully understand it. Thank you.

EDIT: FYI, I tried to customize the VPN for individual sites such as Numista and was unable to do so. My particular VPN can only be enabled or disabled for all sites. When I disable the VPN I do not have that annoyance when coming to sites like Numista.  Specifically, the VPN I am using considers the Numista site to be "compromised".  I guess I have some decisions to make as to whether the VPN is worth bothering with or not. Hope this info is helpful to you.

Sorry if is a dumb question, but what are the advantages of using a VPN to access Numista??

There are a lot of reasons to use VPN. Probably not specific for Numista.

But, if you are using a VPN, every site you go is via VPN. Just a consequence.

I believe in this case there was no desire to use a VPN with Numista. But to answer your question: If I had a particularly valuable collection of numismatic items (not true in my case) and I used Numista to catalog the collection I would worry about someone using Numista to identify me as a theft target. Steps to protect my privacy could include not using real my name, using an e-mail address not used for other activities, not posting on the forum, and using a VPN to make it harder to determine my location.
