Kievan Rus [Risolto]

Ahoj.

How should I understand these bronze buttons?

Is this a pre-coin currency?  9th to 12th century Kievan Rus.

Aren't they just buttons?

Kievan Rus proto coins are N#283873

Bars of silver.

Bronze does not have trade value at that weight. IMHO they are weights or buttons.

thanks guys, It's just interesting that these buttons often appear in connection with the Vikings who often sailed down the rivers in Ukraine towards the Black Sea.

large pieces of silver are too rare and valuable to pay in the market for poor people.

Can anyone else comment on this?  I have the possibility to buy it, but I hesitate because I have not seen it as a pre-coin currency.

These are just buttons. They are quite oftenly being found because they were quite common in XIV-XVI centuries in Rus' towns (and later, up to XIX century). Not sure that dating of them as 9-12 century is real

Thanks Yevgeny, I have confidence in you.  I consider it closed, it will really be buttons.

Have a good time, and above all health.  I'll wait until this ugly epoch is over and I'll need you to replenish wire coins and the Golden Horde.  Bye for now.  Thanks.
