note: the below proposal requires either one of these two (Mark wanted year of coin; Individual wishlisting of coin variants/dates) proposals to be implemented. If you like what you read below, please visit these proposals and add your vote. The below proposal is not feasible without these.

One aspect about the numismatic hobby i like a lot is to set targets for my collections, and tracking how far i've come compared to the targets i've set.
- Some examples of Collection Targets:

  • “Collect 1 piece of each variety of reigning king/queen A”
  • “Collect 1 piece of each year of coin B”

- Some examples of Tracking how far i've come:

  •  “I've got 136/200 varieties of reigning queen/king A collected: collection 68% complete (add graphical Piechart for awesomeness)”
  • “ I've got 61/100 dates of coin B collected: collection 61% complete (add graphical Piechart for awesomeness)”

It's currently not possible to track this inside Numista (so i'm using a seperate excel system for it), and i think it would be an enormous added benefit if it would.

Basically this is the user experience flow i would propose:

- Users would create a new collection inside their profile, just like they do now. For example "Daterun B" (for the second example above)

- They would be able to add collected coins to it as normal, but they would also be able to assign “wishes” or “collection Targets” to it.

  • eg: the user would add the different dates/varieties to the collection that he sees as required to be collected to complete that collection.
  • Quicklists for very popular collection methods could be created, so users can set up a new collection target in a few clicks (for example:  “All USD pennies by year”/“all €2 CC coins”/ “all coin types of Country X”

- In the below example picture you see an overview of a certain coin type where the user wants to collect 1 coin of each year (1911;1912,1914, 1919). He/She has indicated it as such by adding these types to the wishlist inside the “Daterun B” collection as shown in the green box.
On the very right of the picture you can see that He/She has in the mean time collected the 1912 & 1914 dates, while 1911 & 1919 remain wishlisted/uncollected for now. For this specific coin type, the collection “Daterun B”  is 2/4 or 50% complete.

- This same user might have set additional targets in other related coin types.

- When navigating to the “my collection" tab, and selecting the collection in question, the user would be greated by an additional piechart (see the green box on the very right) indicating the completeness of the collection based on the user set collection targets.

I think adding this feature would greatly increase the value for Numista users, so i hope it can be evaluated for implementation, together with the earlier discussed wishlisting per variety requests.

Let me know if there is a need for further clarification.

Hello,

The idea is already tracked here: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic59166.html

Unfortunately it could not be prioritized yet.
