Hello, This has already been proposed several times, but Xavier explained that donations were taxed very heavily and that a tiny part would actually go to Numista. For this reason, he preferred not to implement this option.
I'm not familiar enough with Numista's status and this aspect of tax on contributions was unknown to me.
I'm a forgetful person and I tend to forget the subscriptions I have: that's why the premium solution doesn't appeal to me, but if it's the only way, I'll think about it.

Websites which start out as free open access and try to move themselves to a subscription model by adding a pay wall sometimes tend to die. I have seen it happen to some very promising websites in the past. People like to be able to look things up without having to pay for it.
I think numista's revenue potential lies in an advertising model.
