[…] put several series together in a super series (eg series within Latin monetary union)

but the main subject was solved, so the idea could be forgotten in time.

I think this is a good suggestion. There are series with similar topic but different issuers, issuing entities or mints, and different design (I think the design is the main key to know if a series is really a series or a mix or series). These series are different series, independent of each other, but related by a topic.

The idea is that Numista indicates what series are related. This could be done using tags like in objects, but there are many series and many different topics, too many tags would be needed to cover all possible topics.

Recently was added the section of literature in Numista, with volume groups like https://en.numista.com/literature/volume_group.php?id=39

Series groups could be added to relate similar series. This new entity needs:

  • Name in the languages of the Numista interface (I think the local name is meaningless here: most of these groups will be created just for the need to relate series)
  • Description in the languages of the Numista interface
  • Links to series

A series can be in more than one group.

For example, we can have these groups: (some of these links are a mix of series to divide)

Wanted & swap list (euro coins & world coins, exonumia and banknotes circulated) https://goo.gl/AQjfKp - I have euro & world CC coins for swap.

I also would like to have let's say “2-levels series". Sometimes, even one issuer has a series which is a continuation of other series. Or there are big series with sub-series, like long Guernsey 10p coins British Wildlife series with sub-series of 6 coins each (woodland animals, birds, fishes, butterflies etc).

One day,  I proposed also alternative solution, to add full series as a reference (similar like the reference to other coins) but the answer was that this can be done as a normal link in comment section instead (the disadvantage of this solutions is that if comment is long, part of comment is hidden).
