How can there be a negative number of unread topics?

 This very forum 

Numista › Forum › Numista website 

shows -1 unread. Never seen that before. 

 Similarly the 

Numista coin catalog 

shows 1 unread [positive 1 as normal] 

yet going through every page it can not be found. 

 Two pictures > 

 Though about 10 minutes ago this website forum showed 1 unread, so I 

went through all 116 pages and could not see it. 

 So that 1 is now -1 for some reason. 

 Currently going through the coin catalog forum [231 pages] 

and nothing found so far. 

 I know years ago a bug was reported where an old topic got spammed, 

which that got removed but the unread counter falsely showed 1 unread. 

 Maybe connected. 

 Update, nearly an hour later.

 All 231 pages now checked; nothing there yet 

still shows as 1 unread. 

 At the same time I now see the -1 is cleared, and

now shows 0 unread. So whatever it was is fixed. 

 Spoke too soon. Three minutes later and it is -1 again. 

 No change. 

A suggestion for future development - 

when looking at unread topics throughout the forum, 

currently having to go from one section to the next, 

until all are read, how about a ‘Show unread topics’ button? 

 So all topics with the red symbol on the left could be seen all 

at once, regardless of whatever section they are in? 

I also see 1 unread even though these is nothing red. Defintely a bug!

Yes, I had -1 unread yesterday but all working ok today.

 where there are 578 pages, unfortunately. 

Luckily though the 1 unread was on page 5 today.

 How hard can it be to correct the error,in future?

That is the post where I just reported a spam post from earlier today.  It was removed a few minutes ago. Hence the 1 unread that's not.  

 A week later and looks alright since that day - 

can someone now mark it as solved - 

even though no explanation given to what caused it. Thanks
