Would be cool to have a tab where all members can see stats about numista.

Thank you for your statistics.

Is it possible to make a statistic of the monthly contribution to our forae, according to members of less than 10 contributions and the older members?

I have the feeling we're drowning in requests of no importance (worth, origin, etc) from ONE time  “members”?

I assume we're very few and “serious” active members….

Once upon a time I suggested a “hold” of 3 months on posting to forums by new members. That way, the “one time” members would be either discouraged or hooked to the hobby and will have time to read and learn before posting anything. As it is, most requests and questions can easily be answered with little effort by simple internet search.

If a new member doesn't show any activity (collection update, swaps…) during such “probation” period, the account should automatically be deleted.

I fully agree, but arent 3 months a little too much? I think one month is enought.

You may be right. But definitely necessary.

I would have thought that a week or two would be sufficient to weed out the so called ‘one-time’ members or timewasters.  Nowadays, people want the gratification of immediate information or access, so any requirement for a bit of patience is a blocker.

However, there have been occasions when the items posted have been quite unusual, or the posts themselves contain some additional information that can add to the overall picture, or even the published information we have about an item (i.e. location found, condition, better pictures, etc.).  Maybe, using these ‘one-time’ posts to build up a more detailed catalogue is better than preventing them from coming in altogether?  Maybe, the focus should be on more effective ‘harvesting’ of the information these one-time contributors may offer - create an exchange of information, rather than just one-way free access to knowledge.

Q.  Does anyone keep an eye on these posts to check that the items are already on the catalogue?  Does anyone check if the more unusual items have been added to the catalogue?  Does posting a photo on the forum give Numista automatic copyright?  If not, could a change in terms of usage allow us to create a new page, or update an existing page, regardless of whether explicit permission is formally granted?

They can and often are not pictures of the posters but from a seller or other internet sources, so that would be a no to such a change. Don't know how the big sites with such clauses deal with that. Maybe with a flock of lawyers.

I believe Numista has already stated that any member picture posted in the forum may be used without permission.

I once suggested removing the "valuation" section from the forum, keeping only the identification title.

First, because Numista already provides values, and second, because 99% of the questions are about worthless or PMD coins.

To retire the word “Evaluation” wouldn't change anything at all, let's not go daydreaming.

Can my suggested statistic be realized or not. For the moment, it's not a question of “closing” any accounts, just to understand how the “new” members behave.

I have understood, that the more “members” Numista can prove it has, the higher the publicity charges will be!

Is there a conflict here?

I defer to Xavier.  If forum activity statistics are available, I do not have access to them.

I remember Xavier giving such info a few months back
