Series dedicated to the year 2006, Year of the Dog in the Chinese zodiac. The Chinese zodiac is a traditional classification scheme based on the Chinese calendar that assigns an animal and its reputed attributes to each year in a repeating twelve-year cycle. Chinese folkway held that one's personality is related to the attributes of their zodiac animal. The twelve zodiac signs are: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.
The series consists of three coloured 2000 Schillings coins, two made of gilding metal plated bronze and one made of silver, issued in 2006. The reverses depict multicoloured dogs.
