I’ve been asked this several times, and the current process is far from intuitive:

People click My Collection and copy the URL
https://en.numista.com/vous/index.php

but that link, of course, shows the own collection of who clicks there.

The only way to get the user collection’s link is to:

Search for your username under User Names (many users don’t even know their own username, since it isn’t shown on the main page).

Click My Collection on your profile.

Copy the URL from that page.

It would be much simpler if Numista offered a direct, shareable link to any user’s public collection. Or any easier way to do that.

The user need know your nick.

  • If you have a post in the forum, the user profile box of your message has your nick with a link to your profile.
  • If you write a private message to other user, the user see, in their side, your message with your nick with a link to your profile.

In any case… yes, there could be a link to the user collection in more pages. For example, the user profile of each forum post.

Wanted & swap list (euro coins & world coins, exonumia and banknotes circulated) https://goo.gl/AQjfKp - I have euro & world CC coins for swap.

Maybe I was not clear.

Someone wants to show me his coins, so he send me a link of his Numista collection. Lets say, by email, whatsapp, messenger, etc.

How they do that? How they create the link.

Each member has a number.

Just change the number at the end.

Indeed, but there is no easy intuitive way to do that.

I mean, I had to answer that question for collectors many times, “how do I share my collection”, and there is no simple answer.

Keeping in mind that not everyone is familiar with how web works.

I deleted my reply, as after I amended it,

the new links changed themselves for some reason.

WAs your reply this?

I logged out and used that link and it went to the OP's collection.

Yes - first time I tried it with various numbers,

every time I tried the new link it kept going back to my own page,

even though the number was different.

I tried again just now and it is alright.

and so on. All a member has to do is go to their Profile page,

and the number is among the link at the top of the page. Then write it

down or memorize it to change in one of those two links above.

Or just give them your username.

Yes, but as Geison says

  • If the user is using a big device (PC, laptop), the process is not easy or quick, and requires knowledge (access to profile URL in the browser, copy the number, know the URL of the collection, paste the number to the URL of the collection, paste the URL of the collection in the browser)
  • If the user is using a small device (smartphone), accessing the URL is more difficult.

The best will be display the link https://en.numista.com/vous/vos_pieces.php?user=xxxx in the user profile, or in the forum signature. This way, another user could copy it.

Yes, agreed. It was temporary solution.

Surprised it was not already implemented as there

are a few topics like this already.

Um….If another user needs to go to the user profile to get the link they won't need it as they're already there.

Sorry, it was a copy & paste error. The link to display is https://en.numista.com/vous/vos_pieces.php?user=xxxx (I fix my message).

My last answer still applies https://en.numista.com/vous/vos_pieces.php?user=28842 link is already displayed on your profile page. Why do it twice?

Open your own Profile page. Copy the link:

Paste it in email to person you want to share with:

That's it.

Yes, I know it's possible and I know how to do it, problem is explaining to someone else, especially without images.Even harder if the person isn’t familiar with technology.

I'm just suggesting a simpler way as an improvement. A share button or something

Help me understand. What happens when you hit the share button?  Does a box open up where you add the person's email address and then your link is emailed to that person?

Maybe something like

Yes, we know how to copy a link under a text 🙂 but not all users know how to do it, or do not think to do it, so… why not make it easier?

When I read the underlined text, I thought of the button to copy a link of message to the clipboard. https://en.numista.com/forum/topic138906.html#p1120916

OK. Sounds like you'd like people to be able to view your collection without actually being on the Numista site?

davidhs

Copy? All they have to know is how to click the link.  You were talking about adding a new link that's exactly the same as the link that's already there. I was just showing you that the existing link is the link you want to add: https://en.numista.com/vous/vos_pieces.php?user=xxxx

The answer should be simple:

“click there to share your link/account/collection/swaplist”

Currently we have to make a tutorial of how to do it.

Again, remembering there are many people not able to understand basics of internet, coin collectors sometimes are very old (experients should I say).

What does the person you want to share with receive? A PDF of your entire collection? A link to Numista? Pictures? Excel file?  Not trying to be difficult but I don't understand what you are actually trying to share.  I don't think anyone needs a tutorial to copy their link and email it to somebody.

Not being difficult, but I am sure this is a problem because I've been asked about that several times, then I am sure it is a thing that can be improved.

Real story:

At a coin convention, two friends meet:

– Hi Paul, what are you looking for?
– Hey Ris, I’m looking for coins from issuers I don’t have yet. See if there's anything in my collection that you have and I don't. Or just take a look if you want to admire my beautiful collection.
– Sure, what’s your username?
– No idea, a friend created my account. I’ll just click here  “My account”, then “My collection”… okay, now I copied the link, here it is: https://en.numista.com/vous/index.php
– Thanks, I’ll check it out when I get home.

Guess what? The link he gave won’t work.
We need a fix.

If you click on this link you get your username, the linkt to your profile page that you can share and on that profile page anyone can click on your (public) collection. I have no idea what more is needed …😣

Just call me Bram

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!

Intuitivelly, people click “My collection” to share, and not going to “profile” and then search the links.

That is.

You know how to, of course, but lots of people don't, I have a group of 250 collectors, and this question is asked often. So, it is a thing.
