Hello all,
I have a banknote that I have no idea where it is from asides from the fact that it is in Portuguese. It is a thin paper around 114 x 62 millimeters.
Hope to hear what this is!
Hello!
This issue seems to me to be a voucher or a deposit slip at a local bank, and is not considered a banknote. Try to research a little more about the city that issued this voucher.
Regards,
Vladimir.

Hello, So the thing is that there seems to be very little information regarding this as it appear to be a banknote but in more of a Notgeld kind of way. I did see that it is Brazilian of origin based on another example found here:
https://www.vieiracolecionismo.com.br/peca.asp?ID=12900510&ctd=43&tot=&tipo=165&artista=
Other than that, I don't think I can find much else information and that was why I turned here, hopefully to see what could be understood from it before I try adding it to the catalogue.
Hello!
I live here in Brazil and I have never seen anything like this.
What I can practically guarantee is that this issue is not a circulation note or an emergency note. There is no name of an authorized issuer, there is no mention of use for payment or anything like that. What we have, apparently, is as if it were a receipt that a deposit was made somewhere.
There is no doubt that there must be a story (perhaps quite interesting) behind it. If it were to be included here in Numista, I would put it under Exonumia (commercial vouchers); but it would require a larger/better study.
Regards,
Vladimir
“Intendência municipal” is an outdated synonym of "prefeitura municipal" (prefecture, town hall, city hall…) and this term was used in Brazil and, as far as I know, also in Portugal. And there is a city in Rio Grande do Sul called São Jerônimo (outdated spelling: São Jeronymo), I don't know about Portugal. I guess it seems fair to say that this item was issued in Brazil, but I do agree with Vladimir about it not being a banknote.

so this is a coupon voucher that deserves to be on Paper Exonumia and looks to be early 20th century based on the findings. Is there any place that could be recommended to go to to search the details of this coupon?

Sorry, I don't know any catalog of Brazilian exonumia. I guess best places for getting some info are auction houses or trying contact directly to São Jerônimo's secretary of finances.
I did a small search in auction houses and found this other voucher of 200 réis but of a different design
(link: https://www.danielchaiebleiloeiro.com.br/peca.asp?ID=4782782). It's signed by “A. Coutinho”, and searching in Google I found that Antônio Cândido Coutinho became the first intendente municipal of São Jerônimo in 1892 (source: https://www.saojeronimo.rs.leg.br/institucional/historia). I notice that your voucher has a different signature ("G. G. Paim"?), maybe if you search for that name you can find better and more precise informations.
