I do not find the name of this series in any language, so I use the general name “Chinese zodiac” in English (and its translation in other languages (“Zodiaco chino” in Spanish…).
Regarding the local name… The series was issued in China, and its tokens only have Chinese characters. I use the Chinese, like other series.
Add:
- Name (local): 中国生肖

----------------------------
Series dedicated to the Chinese zodiac. The Chinese zodiac is a traditional classification scheme based on the Chinese calendar that assigns an animal and its reputed attributes to each year in a repeating twelve-year cycle. Chinese folkway held that one's personality is related to the attributes of their zodiac animal. The twelve zodiac signs are: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.
The series consists of brown colour tokens with a loop. The obverses depict the zodiac animal, and the reverses depict the yin and yang symbol.
