The Type of object “Non-issued banknotes” was created here:  https://en.numista.com/forum/topic144308.html for Banknotes that were prepared for circulation and printed but never issued for circulation.  Subsequent to that new type object a new field in the catalog was created “date of issue / unissued”  https://en.numista.com/forum/topic158161.html which was for coins or banknotes issued on a date different than on the coin or banknote or never issued.  The object type “Non-issued banknotes” is no longer needed as I expressed here: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic158161.html#p1232760 These banknotes should be moved to Standard circulation banknotes just as the “Never issued coins” are still Standard circulation coins.  Currently this is what the banknotes look like:

But coins look like this:

If they didn't circulate, how can they be “Standard circulation banknotes”? If I want to only show notes that circulated, this type allows me to exclude those that didn't. The unissued field doesn't allow that. You're right that we have the same information entered twice but it seems to me a broader rethink of types and filters is required.

Same way coins that were made for circulation but were never issued are still Standard circulation coins?

Should be the same structure between the Banknote catalog and the Coin catalog.

Change the Coins by creating a new object type Non-issued coins - Coins that were prepared for circulation and minted but never issued for circulation or change the banknotes. It's the different treatment I object to.

That's what needs fixing, then. I hadn't noticed that coins weren't being treated the same way as notes. We would still be entering the same information twice but this could be dealt with by an overide on the unissued field for all coins and notes in any type other than “Standard circulation" or ”Circulating commemorative".
