Is 1338-2536 somehow not an error? This is not the only denomination presenting such a date range.

The problem is the last error date but I thought only the Gregorian date is of consequent to the range and that was changed to 1977.
Edit no there are both calendars are listed.

There are actually multiple calendars in play here. From 1976 to 1978 Iran used an imperial persian calendar, that was dated from Cyrus I: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_calendars#Modern_calendar:_Solar_Hijri_(SH)
Although the range 1338-2536 sounds funny, it is not incorrect, they've just changed calendars.
There are some even weirder examples, like this: N#64359 where the coin started to have AH dates, then persian ones and finally went back to AH.
Based on your answer, I'll drop it here. You know of the situation and obviously have more expertise than I. Its not just a typo, then. OK. Have a nice day.
It really shouldn't be reported that way. It should show as AH1338-1354, MS2536 (1959-1977) but Numista is incapable of doing that. As it is there should be Iran coins with a 2500 date but there isn't and this coin should show up in a search with the date 2535 but it doesn't. It's really an unexpected bug in the system.
It was a very good question.

I agree. There isn't much on the coin page to explain this sudden, 1000 year jump in the dates. It's totally normal to suspect it as an error or a typo.
Your MS reference triggered an old memory for me and, sure enough, my SCWC 2015 did have a sentence on the matter that I remember now. At only 61, I'm embarrassed to have to get out the magnifier for print that small, but it was in there, alright.
Thank you.
