Series dedicated to the Spanish Peseta, and its replacement by the Euro. The Peseta was the currency of Spain between 1868 and 2002. Along with the French Franc, it was also a de facto currency used in Andorra.
The series consists of eleven replicas of 1 Spanish Peseta coins, plated in silver (.925), and one commemorative medal, issued in 1999 by the national newspaper La Vanguardia. The population was able to acquire this replica with the purchase of the newspaper.
Characteristics, differentiating elements and security that replicas have with respect to real coins:
- Weight, diameter and composition different; all replicas being equal in size.
- Most objects have “L.V.” and “R” marks, or similar.
- All reproductions are plated in silver.
