Hello,
I've had this issue quite a few times now where coins and issuers get moved around and i'm unaware of it.
I sort my collection in real life by how Numista is organized, makes it easier for me to find stuff. (I'm also aware that you can now add a “storage location” to your coin, but i've only recently started to add that to my coins and with my collection size that will take a while. It also doesnt fully solve the issue i'd say).
So if coins just jump around unprompted it confuses me a lot cause i will have coins just appear in issuers without me knowing where they previosly were or when it even happened.
A problem i described in this post as well:
https://en.numista.com/forum/topic169840.html

It also “recently” happened with this coin:
N#451703
Which was previosly listed under “carolingian states” but is now under austrian states.

At a certain collection size it just becomes a problem if stuff is not where you think it is, when coins just “vanish out of the collection” in your eye cause you don't know it moved.
And my collection with about 7000 items isnt even that large, i know people with this issue with triple the amount of coins.

I obviosly have no issue with moving these things for the catalouge to be more accurate but please make a prompt or something in the “My collection” tab where it tells you if a coin in your collection has moved issuer or something!

Thank you :)

This feature is urgently needed.
I also organize my physical collection based on Numista, and every now and then something changes.

+1

Good addition, +1 from me.

They say "Pecunia non olet", but I know better...

I don't know why but i just thought i'd edit something together. Doesn't have a real purpose, just something i did for fun.

The reason why i didn't suggest putting it in “See recent collection changes” is that that gets cluttered pretty quickly, not just when buying new coins but also when for example adding prices or comments to a bunch of things afterwards. So unless you'd make it so we'd be able to filter for specifically issuer changes or/and highlight them in the list i'd keep em separate.

Also one good idea i heard someone had in the other post i linked in my original message was:
“We probably should be able to search for specific coins…”
in reference to the collection journal. Sounds like a good idea as well and i think is somewhat related to this topic as well.

You can do this search now through the browser search function (CTRL-F).  Set the start date to before the coin was added or modified (or to the beginning of time, 01/01/1900 works). Then search the coins title. I just found this one I added 5 years ago.

There is a start date limit though for when the feature was added.  I believe it's May  2018.

My laptop grossly struggles with handling this though. I have to set it for at most a three year period which means I can't search all my coins at once. It would be better to have a filter feature depending on the type of change made.

Seems like it has happened again. They seem to be reworking Austria a lot… (The two 1 Pfennig pieces were previosly under "AUstrian Empire)
This is why we should be notified of these changes.

No just for this, but banknotes as well. I found that a note of mine had been moved to an incorrect year line. The only reason I found it was because it was now the newest note on my front page (which I knew was incorrect).

It would be nice to get an email if an item is moved, similar to how we get emails now if a catalogue modification is approved.

odd job

No just for this, but banknotes as well.

I assume that if this is implemented, it will apply to any type of object in Numista (coins, tokens, medals, banknotes and paper exonumia).

Wanted & swap list (euro coins & world coins, exonumia and banknotes circulated) https://goo.gl/AQjfKp - I have euro & world CC coins for swap.

Just bumping this one because it is a very important improvement in my opinion. Yesterday I was checking whether I had a certain version of a note and found that my note had either been moved to a new line or the line had been changed in such a way that the entry was incorrect.

Who knows what other notes have been affected? So far I have found out by accident:

1. In one case I only noticed that a note had been moved to a wrong year line because that note suddenly became my “newest note” on my collection summary page

2. In another case I wanted to help a forum member with an example of an Arabic date on a note and when I went to find it, I saw it had been moved to the wrong year line

3. This last case was triggered by a bad online purchase. A note arrived in XF condition and the seller offered me another note at a discount. When I went to check whether I had the note he was offering, I found that line entries had been changed

If we can get some kind of notification when there are collection changes, that would be great:

1. When an item is moved to another year line

2. When an item is now on a different page (pages were merged for example)

3. When a line entry is changed. The description matters, because that is all that distinguishes one item from another, in some cases

Bonus would be if you own an item and some modification has happened to the page. For example somebody might submit a better image or a new image. If we got a message about that, we could go and look at it. That would be very helpful in my opinion!

Bumping this, because I think it is probably the most important feature a collector would want. There has to be some way we can be notified if a third party makes changes to an item. Otherwise you can have a wrong entry and never know about it.
