Hi, just enquiring about Crown coin weights from the isle of man relating to the period when pobjoy mint produced them, variations in weight from my accurate weighing scales are significant differences up to 2 grams and not corresponding to the weight you have listed, taking in to account standard issue, mirror finish, proof issue and silver issue over a long period of pobjoy coins.
Question is has anybody else on this site tried weighing there crown coins from the IOM and noticed a significant difference in weight even on coins that appear to be the same coin, is this just pobjoy mint inaccuracies or different metals, it's difficult to tell to say the least

There are 1163 coins with denomination “1 crown” on Numista: copper-nickel, silver, gold and other metals too.
Please let us know at least few examples of the coins you measured the weight (N# number or the link to page) + your result in grams. Then, we will be able to try to answer for your question.
I measured three random pieces from years ‘70, ’80 and '90 and results are: 28.56, 28.54 and 28.34 gram. A little above the standard weight but I think still within the acceptable limit.
- the imperfection of the balance (It's chaep balance that cost me few $ only)
- the imperfection of the coins. Even the gold coins have some tolerance +/- that is acceptable, the CuNi coins have it too. The weight indicated in certificates/mint info/currency determination is the standard one that should be on average.
See below the fragment of IOM governement law that approved 2022 IOM TT coins - acceptable difference is over 0.3g
Thanks again for your reply, no doubt there are variations in the weight of these coins, I am a big collector of IOM coins, I started weighing them after recieving several what I think are silver issues, they all appear to be slightly lighter than the cuni issue's, but even this I'm not certain about, you could easily dedicate this whole site to Isle of Man coinage only and still struggle to get everything correct as there is a huge variety to collect 👍
