The listing for the Banco de la Republica is incorrectly named, as it contains the extra “de Colombia” as part of the title. The name of the bank, per banknote text and their website, is simply “Banco de la Republica” / “Bank of the Republic”. Can this be updated to reflect more accurately?

Hello, Tony!

I'm going to ask referee @adanieluyfor his opinion on this matter. If there's agreement, then yes, we can edit the institution's name.

Well, I don't see as a so bad issue the adding of “de Colombia”, but technically seems was named as Banco de la República only.

But their official site is not so clear. On all pages (at least those I looked at), on top left it reads:

and

English and Spanish versions.

In seal you can see: “BANCO DE LA REPÚBLICA / COLOMBIA”; then as title: “BANCO DE LA REPÚBLICA | COLOMBIA” and as subtitle: “We are the Central Bank of Colombia” or “Somos el banco central de Colombia” (note “Central” also is not included on common name) .

There is not a problem for me to have either of versions, as country name is usually included in bank's name in most countries, but there is not a real need to add or delete country name, as when we look a catalog page, we are already within the limits of that country.

Seems on international documents, they use the more formal version: “The monetary policy strategy of Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia) aims to maintain a low and stable inflation rate”.

In resume: it is OK for me to delete “de Colombia” on bank's name, as technically is correct.

Just 10 options: you understand binary, or you don't.

Hello!

To add something to this conversation, see how Wikidata handles the entity's name. In English: Central Bank of Colombia.

One idea would be to use the English name as Central Bank of Colombia and the local name as Banco de la Republica. This way, the name would appear on registration pages like this: Central Bank of Colombia (Banco de la Republica).

What do you think?

No, I don't agree. This is what we can see in your link:

Banco Central of Colombia is the description they give, not a name. “Banco Central” is used worldwide to describe the bank type that has the power and responsibility of manage the economic control of a country, issue money, and take actions to help Government to reach the target on the finances of the country.

For me, Banco de la República is the official name; adding “-Colombia” or "de Colombia" may be useful to help understand of which country it is, but we don't have to change name of entity.

You're right, Daniel. We then changed the name to "Banco de la Republica," which is the official name.

Thank you!
