The system allow up to four references in each year line.
Recently I added the references in the year lines of the coin N#110699 but there are five references (KM# 69, Cal# 72, Aureo# 175, CruSeg# 107, CruSeg# 108). I wrote two of them in the same field because of they are from the same catalogue (CruSeg# 107, CruSeg# 108), but there are problems with their display and the search results.
Edit: This is a special case and I finally wrote each reference in one year line, but I keep the suggestion.
The coin has two year lines with CruSeg# references:
- CruSeg# 107, CruSeg# 108
- CruSeg# 109
and I tested write the references of the line 1 in different formats. This works
- Case 1: comma-separated ✔️
Field year line 1: 107,108
Display in the page: CruSeg# 107-109
Search CruSeg#: 107, 108 and 109 find the coin.
and these do not work
- Case 2: comma and space separated
Field year line 1: 107, 108
Display in the page: CruSeg# 107-109
Search CruSeg#: 107 and 109 find the coin, but 108 does not. ❌ - Case 3: hyphen-separated
Field year line 1: 107-108
Display in the page: CruSeg# 107-108, 109 ❌
Search CruSeg#: 109 find the coin, but 107 or 108 does not. ❌ - Case 4: slash-separated
Field year line 1: 107/108
Display in the page: CruSeg# 107/108, 109 ❌
Search CruSeg#: 109 find the coin, but 107 or 108 does not. ❌
I have a question to @Xavier… Is the comma-separated references format expected by the system? Or is it a coincidence?
and a suggestion: Accept this format (if it has not already) and comment the possibility of using it in the FAQ articles
