N#27425

SCWC has it listed as ND-2000

Yes I spotted the tiny 2000 amongst all the other dates on the coin.

Queen Mother 1900-2000

Lady Diana 1961-1997

Visit to India 1992

Weird coin.  Can’t decide what it’s supposed to be commemorating.

Original post questioned the Numista page date of 2000 for this coin: N#27425 This coin was only released in Proof so I don't understand the revised post.

Sorry, accidentally edited wrong post (Too many pages open at once)

I agree should be ND (2000) or simply ND.

Why would it be ND if the date is in the coin?

Maybe add the location (as it is not very obvious) in the comment section.

2000 is the latest date on the coin but is it actually dating the coin or is it just commemorating The Queen Mother’s lifespan 1900-2000.

IIRC it was concluded that if the date of issue is depicted on the coin it should appear as the year

That are also not the life dates of the Queen Mother, she lives until 2002.

I think this coin could win a contest for the most ridiculous design.

If we are committed to using a date from the coin, we have 5 to choose from:

1900 (queen mother's birth year)

1961 (Diana's birth year)

1992 (Diana's visit to India)

1997 (Diana's death)

2000 (some date related to the queen mother, but apparently not her death year).

What would make sense?

NONE OF THESE.  Because the coin wants to be commemorating DIana's visit to India in 1992.

Does it make any sense to commemorate an 8th anniversary?

Add the fact that it is not an Indian coin but supposedly a Congolese one, the other one with the Queen Mother Motive has a visit to the Pope in the 80s. It's just an early representative of these Fiji type ‘dumb people’ trap merchandise for “collectors” issues.

I am surprised the lion's birth year is not on the obverse.

I agree the dating is weird, but ND is for cases where the date is not present at all. Here, if the date 2000 is the rights one, it is present on the item. Current status is “ok”.
