The new catalog filters for Currency and Denomination were inserted between Face value and Year, which in my opinion are the two most useful fields for finding a coin you're not familiar with. I'd love to keep those two fields together (one tab press apart) for faster searching.

Maybe move Currency and Denomination right before Reference?

Maybe you missed the part about Face value being only kept for a short time and will be completely deleted?  https://en.numista.com/forum/topic62094.html#p1310496

Wow, that seems even worse. So if we have coins we can't identify (therefore don't know the currency system of) now we just use the Lettering filter?

If you want any coin with a value in [denomination] independently of the issuer or the currency, I recommend you use the main text search field.

Wanted & swap list (euro coins & world coins, exonumia and banknotes circulated) https://goo.gl/AQjfKp - I have euro & world CC coins for swap.

As long as we can still search for a specific denomination without having to select an issuer, I won't be sad 🙏

Nevermind, im sad

If in the future the search parameters are still displayed and not removed/ it still works you can try to add the ‘v=’ parameter to still search for face value or you use the general search field (which will be quite a bit broader).

Maybe this could work in two ways:

  • If a currency is selected, the denomination field is a selection box with options, as it is now.
  • If no currency is selected, the denomination field is a text box, like the current value field.

That sounds like a good middle ground! I just worry that full text search on a coin doesn't know that the “10” I'm searching for is denomination, so I'm going to get every coin in existence with a 1 and 0 next to each other. The whole point of a dedicated face value filter is that a database query knows which subset of data to search against.

I do not think this will have any problems… now works with the “face value” field:

If you like the suggestion, modify the title of your topic to reflect it. You may it copy in the first post but you do not remove your text because then the reply has not sense.🤔
