New User Stats >> January 2026

Before I begin my usual presentation of new user statistics for January 2026, I need to issue an unusual disclaimer.  When collecting data for January 2026, I noticed that 1,640 user accounts were created over a two day period (January 7th and 8th) whose user names all shared a common prefix ("coin_" or “Notice” or some form of “Verify”) followed by a numerical sequence, or some cases an alphanumeric string.  None of these accounts selected a nation, and none of them added any items at all to their collections.  I suspect that these accounts were created by an automated process.  Since these accounts are unlikely to represent actual human users, I have omitted them from this month's statistics.

5,665 new user accounts were created on Numista in January 2026, increasing the total member tally by 1.7%.  This was the highest monthly increase in Numista's history, besting the previous record of 5,056 set in January 2025.

This January's new members added 152,000 items into their collections.  20% of January's new users appear to be active and 11% are not publicly visible.

5,235 of January's new members selected a nation.  154 nations are represented this month, and 88 of those nations have at least one active new account.  Of January's new users, 895 are American, 757 are French, 252 are Indian, 239 are British, 238 are Canadian, and 226 are Spanish.

There were notable surges in memberships from Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Taiwan, UK, USA and Venezuela.   (That's more European nations than usual.)

Alderney, Andorra, Anguilla, Bahamas, Benin, Botswana, Cayman Islands, Congo, Cook islands, Djibouti, Dominica, Eritrea, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Guadeloupe, Isle of Man, Kuwait, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritius, New Caledonia, Nicaragua, Oman, Paraguay, Rwanda, Tristan da Cunha, Tuvalu, Uganda, Western Sahara, and Zimbabwe each gained one new member.

Germany passed Brazil for 11th rank.

Of the top 30 nations, Germany grew the fastest in January (3.6% increase), while Malaysia grew the slowest (0.9%). The USA grew by 1.5% and France grew by 1.7%.

Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins

Good to see the Australians are at the top of the League Table.  😁

Despite the fact that a lot of people on here don't seem to like the way the Australian catalogue is organised. 🙄

It is kept up to date with the latest releases with great pics and loads of information. 😀 Special thanks to @yensen1877 for all the work he does on the Perth Mint stuff.

Coin collecting is a big hobby in Australia with lots of interesting coins being issued regularly by the Royal Australian Mint, Perth Mint & also issued by Australia Post in PNC's. (Postal Numismatic Covers).

Coloured coins, different themes, lots of Commemoratives and Sets, coins with different Privymarks and Counterstamps make things interesting and is the reason why it is a great hobby here.

There are lots of Coin groups on Facebook in Australia and I am on a lot of them. I am constantly promoting Numista on them and get lots of thanks for introducing people on them to the best coin website in the world.

Thanks for the monthly stats report Cerulean I always look forward to it.
