  • Description (EN): (see below)

Series dedicated to Royal Sites managed by Patrimonio Nacional (English: National Heritage). Patrimonio Nacional is a Spanish autonomous agency, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes, that administers the sites owned by the Spanish State and used by the Monarch and the royal family as residences and for State ceremonies. The National Patrimony includes palaces, gardens, monasteries and convents, called the Royal sites.

The series comprises twelve 5 Euro silver (.925) coins minted by the Royal Mint of Madrid with similar dimensions, characteristics and design, all sharing the same obverse. Two issues of six coins each were released in 2013 and 2014.

Can we change the name to National Heritage in English? National Patrimony sounds very strange and even though they don't translate the name of their institution on their website, they do refer to National Heritage in their description:

Just call me Bram

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!

I'm not an English speaker, so when translating the name into English, I saw the option of "Patrimony." Without knowing if it sounded bad to English speakers, I thought it was closer to the Spanish name “Patrimonio” than "Heritage," and I didn't want it to be confused with UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Anyway, knowing that it doesn't sound entirely correct (or strange) in English, there are two options:

1. Leave it as "Patrimonio Nacional" in english too, since it's the proper name of a state agency.

2. Change it to "National Heritage" as it seems to sound better than the first option I chose.

I confess that “National Patrimony” sounded strange for me, but my English is poor (it is better thanks to Google Translator). 😂

About use the name in Spanish “Patrimonio Nacional” or the translation “National Heritage”… I found other sources where is translated, so I think we can use “National Heritage”

Many thanks Jarcek, in this topic we have discussed the possibility of improving the English translation of the series, so I think it's best to change the English name from National Patrimony to National Heritage.
