Apologies for the condition of the second coin, but before discarding it I noticed that the 1 of 1971 seems to be further away from the 7 than on my other coin. Could it be a bit like the USA 1 cent coins where the mint mark is added after the date is imprinted, so can be in variable places? Maybe another example of ‘fine v bold’ dates? There does seem to be other parts of the coin with minor differences too (i.e. distance between the A and the prow of the boat, size of the loop in the 9, as well as the width of some of the letters, etc. etc.)
Anyone else found something similar?
