King George III's reign in Australia began in 1788, not 1760.

The first British colony in Australia was created on 26 January 1788.

This is a request for changing a ruling authority. Those go in the Numista coin catalog forum – when you create the topic there you can check a box to say the post is about a ruling authority. After over 3000 posts don't you think it's time for you to start learning how the forum is organized?

Any why are you ignoring the claiming of Australia for the British Crown by Cook in 1770?

There are also banknotes for the Colony of New South Wales released under King George III's reign.

British settlement in Australia started with the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788.

Yes we should have - Various Aboriginal Chiefs and Spiritual leaders 65,000BC to 26 January AD 1788.

Otherwise this is daft as every colonial power imposed and forced their power on a new colony at different times, and this sets a slippery slope precedent. Should we say that Queen Victoria only became Queen of New Zealand on February 6th 1840 and not 1837/38. Plus do we count from accession dates or coronation dates of the monarch as in Great Britain these were often a year or more apart.

Like Victoria - acceded June 20 1837, Crowned May 1838

Edward VII - acceded Jan 29 1901, crowned Aug 1902 (I don't know exact dates)

George V -acceded May 6 1910, Crowned July 22 1911

Edward VIII - acceded Jan 30 1936 - Crowned never - but was to be on May 12 1937

George VI - acceded Dec 11 1936 - Crowned May 12 1937 (Only 5 months, but the coronation had been planned for his brother already)

Elizabeth II - acceded Feb 6 1952 - Crowned Jun 2 or 3 1953

Charles III - acceded Sep 7 2022 - Crowned May 6 2023 (Actually quick, only 8 months)

And yes counting exploration - So NZ's first leader was either Chief Tamatoa IV (932 - 952 AD Tahiti - hypothetical as supreme chiefs that far back are obscure and no one is 100% certain when the Maori arrived) or Frederik Hendrik (1625 - 1647) Stadtholder of the Netherlands as Tasman was Dutch.

Really pointless suggestion that creates a lot of extra work just to please a few pedantic people.

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.
