We often have users who register on Numista, ask a question and then close their account again, sometimes before anyone has replied. The other day, I looked at a tweet and only noticed later that the user account had already been closed. This gave me the idea of somehow flagging open tweets that refer to closed user accounts. We would then have a clear indication that the person asking the question no longer wants an answer. What do you think of this idea?
If my basic idea is approved, the question of implementation arises. I am only a user myself and not a programmer. I can think of two different basic ideas.
- My favourite: You can already mark a tweet as solved with a flag. Then a white tick in a blue circle appears in front of the title on the overview page. Could you build in an automatic function so that when a user account is closed, the respective tweet, if it has not been marked as solved, displays an red ‘X’ at this point, for example? For me, if both conditions are met, i.e. the tweet has already been flagged and the user account is closed later, the solved flag should take precedence and remain in place. I think that if both flags are allowed to appear one after the other in this position, it will become confusing.
- Alternatively, which I would not like so much, as you only see it when you open the tweet, overwrite the user name.
When you open the tweet, the user name is displayed on the left with the note ‘Joined: ...’. I think that as soon as the user account is closed, the user name could be overwritten/overlaid with the note ‘closed account’ and the line ‘Joines: ...’ could be hidden completely.
