hi
does anyone know if there were any defects in this coins production as I have one that appears to have a dye fault from the shield across the kangaroos leg to the edge of the coin

The member created a separate topic for some reason,
so it is added here where it should be.
It is is not raised like a crack, so is most likely a scratch.

I agree it is possibly not a cracked die but there could have been something stuck to the die
Many Thanks I can accept that
Maybe you can help me with another coin it is obviously a 1949 - 1952 Australian Penny with King George VI on it without the Letters :IND:IMP.
but on the other side it is blank do you know if there were any Pattern coins produced in that way, according to my scales it weighs 9.2gm the same as most of my other pennies without faults.
Guessing it is that. Guessing also that one side has
been deliberately smoothed flat - including the rim.
Pictures would help.

Something between the die and the coin, or „stuck“ to the coin or die during minting is called a „strike through error“ if you want to learn about the types of anomalies on the coin this produces, how they then look on the coin after striking or how to recognise them as a legitimate error, you can now inform yourself with this knowledge.
Strike through error. One of my favourite errors but unfortunately quite a rare error.
