Use of AI pictures

The pictures of this coin shows obvious signs of use of AI, maybe used to enhance the quility of the picture.
It is most easily seen in the lettering.

What is the stance on this by the site?
The AI reproduction is not an accurate depiction of the coin.

What is your suggestion? You only stated an observation and asked a question (I could either vote for or against it and it would have no meaning either way).

I hope the stance is not to use AI “enhanced” pictures at all. I would also like to know how these pictures got through validation (even a picture for ants would be better than these).

Well, computer generated/drawn/ai generated images are permissible when no photos are availlable.

I agree though that the quality of these particular images is horrible, and they should be replaced.

The problem with that is the page will no longer appear in the Add missing pictures on the Contribute to the catalog page which greatly decreases the chances someone will even think of replacing with real pictures.

Also, it's obvious the person who uploaded the coin pictures has the coin so why not just ask for real pictures before validating?

In this case it's simple. Replace it with beautiful pictures:

Change request is made.

And change request has been validated.

In this specific case, I suspect that the AI alteration was not made deliberately. Modern phones often try to digitally enhance pictures when the optical quality is not enough. Here are the original picture and the cropped picture that was on the coin page until recently.
