If we have a better condition item in the catalog, may we share it?

Every so often, we numista contributors have the same item already on numista, but sometimes the item on numista is in low grade or has damage or stains. If we happen to have a better specimen of the same exact item (exceptions possible like a slight variation in spelling, or variety) is it possible to share our item in the comments section?

Also the reverse is true, if I or another uploader has the same item but is in low grade and gets validated, the one who has the original page keeps their images at the top of the page, another person who has a better specimen could share theirs?

If you have better pictures than those at the top of the page you can and should submit your to replace them. If you just want to add yours as an example for a particular year line then use the Register an example of this type link at the bottom of each page.

I have tried to replace a few and some were accepted, some not. I recently tried to replace a coin on a page several times where my example is far and away the better example and is Uncirculate but has been rejected and understandably so  because of my poor photography skills. Focus, sharpness, sizing, lighting, reflection, cropping, shadows, etc, etc. Sometimes very frustrating because I clearly have the better example but the referees have no choice but to reject some because my photos just do not measure up to justify replacing what is already on the page. 

Just put your coin under scanner instead of photographing it.

Just use the ‘mug method’, no real skills needed (the lighting will be the most challenging thing).

Put your coin on a white background, put your phone on a mug or any other high enough surface with place for lighting and your minimal focal length. Click on the coin to autofocus and take a picture (tip: use a voice command to take it for less chance to be out of focus), turn your coin repeat. Then upload them to your computer for good cropping or at least square crop them in your phone.

Cool, I like all these ideas and thoughts…

An example is the uploader has for their pictures a VF specimen and mine is uncirculated, I could register an example of this type as rsirian1 suggested above. :)

If yours is better grade and you have quality pictures, I would change the main pictures. You can of course also add it as an example in addition if there are multiple year lines with no pictures.
