Currently, to view the sets of a particular issuer, you have to go to one of the coins associated with the set, but there isn't (if I'm not mistaken) a way to see all the sets of a given country.

My proposal is to create a separate entry for sets, similar to those for coins, tokens, medals, and banknotes, so that all the sets of a single issuer can be viewed.

Currently on Numista:

Proposal:

EDIT: I have added the need to create the Sets Guidelines as it is very important for this section of the Numista Catalog.

I voted - and have been asking for this since day one.

HOW are members who have a set, easily able to see

if it is already on here or not - otherwise duplicates pages are created.

Exactly, and it would also be incredibly useful for the referees of the different issuers to be able to see which sets have been created, to see all of an issuer's sets at once to standardize title and format criteria, and to be able to analyze which sets still need to be created. It would save us a ton of work, since right now we have to open each coin individually to see the sets.

Furthermore, a catalog with hundreds of pages of Sets created and hidden within the catalog, unable to be viewed quickly and globally, makes no sense. For me, it's not just necessary, it's essential.

I'm not an expert in computer programming, but I have a feeling it shouldn't be too complicated to implement. If someone with computer knowledge could comment on it, I'd appreciate it.

How about Guidelines so when I submit a new set I don't get this response from the referee?

I’m unable to approve this set at this time. Until formal guidelines are established, I’m holding off on approvals to avoid potential duplication. I’ve added this set to my list and will revisit it once the guidelines are in place.

Without a doubt, this is the other important thing (perhaps even more) regarding the topic of Sets. Without a clear Guideliness, we do not know what criteria to follow when creating, modifying, or approving Sets in Numista.

In this Topic, I wanted to focus on the thing of viewing the Sets to see if, step by step, we can achieve something.

I have held off approving Sets until Admin can sort this feature out, some might even call it a slight protest to get users to get Admin to sort out the feature properly. Otherwise, this will be a bigger job when it is finally decided how they should look. Its very difficult to see which ones exist already and have been approved without a search feature. The more people who raise this issue the more likely it will get fixed and then the site can have all the sets it needs!

Let me also join in this n´th post demanding guidelines and searchability for sets. I´m even starting to wonder if the team is even working on it … Otherwise we could start writing guidelines ourselves, so at least we have those …

An update would be welcome @Xavier and @Jarcek  😀

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!

When creating guidelines, please, also consider that sets may have minor variations.

Color, slightly different packaging (different texture, thin/thick booklet), placement of coins, CoA in different languages, missing coins (errors) etc.

Please, include what should constitute a different set, and what a variety. (And potentially add multiple line function, like yearlines?)

In one of the attached topics, I have described my opinion about about this topic, and it seems that many referees agree (or mostly agree) with it.

Many proposals or ideas for implementing improvements in Numista end up being forgotten. I believe that what's been said here is necessary to prevent this proposal (already discussed many times in other topics) from being forgotten and lost in the forum once again without at least receiving a response from someone with decision-making power on the Numista team.

There are over 6,250 sets in the Numista catalog.  There are over 180 sets in the US catalog.  There are 2 sets in the UK catalog.  The UK collectors need guidelines!

Agreed! If you're going to do something. At least do it properly! We have no guidelines, no search functionality and no easy editing of sets. Give the people what they want!
