There has been some confusion regarding which categories coins belong to. Here is the guide (all additional questions regarding this issue will be added here).
- Russia/ USSR = Europe
- Turkey = Asia
- Greenland = North America (except fantasies)
- Cuba = North America
- Panama = South America
Please make sure if you know your coin is a fantasy or not.
Tristan da Cunha, Palestine past 1948, Greenland past 1964, Antarctic territories, etc. are all countries to beware of!
There was a mistake last time with coins from Panama that were listed as south America but should have been in north America. Greenland is linked to Denmark and should therefore I think be with Europe. Turkey is both Europe and Asia as is also Russia, although I would also add Russia to Europe and Turkey to Asia. Middle east is a region of the world and not a continent.

Middle East isn't a category.
Panama is South America.
Greenland, like any other colony, will be put under its geographical location.
Sorry but Panama is not south America its the southernmost part of North America and frontiers with South america.

Id say Central an North together as if we'd had one for only North then there would only be US and Canadian coins in it.

Greenland has a certain autonomy that allows it to be counted as North America in certain maps. For exemple, we have quite a few maps in our school, one puts Greenland as North America and the other as Europe.
Although I think that we should keep it as North America.
University is time consuming, cherish your free time!
What about the USSR? Most of the USSR was in Asia and it's very iffy considering these coins were used in what we now consider staunch Asian countries (Kyrgyzstan is smack in the middle of Asia, but does using the USSR's coins make it somehow European?).
All USSR coins were minted to what is called the European part of Nowadays Russia so I think it doesn´t change anything for MPCC wheather it's a Russian coin or a USSR coin.

There are a lot of subjective matters.. Likes of the imperial homeland style coinage which was struck specifically for colonies still counts as the uk. The best instances I can think of is the 1/4 farthings, they never circulated here but in Ceylon they did.. And the 1888 4d never circulated here but went to British Guiana
Cita: bam777You won't win with your worn florin...
Hey now, there are actually avid low-grade coin collectors (because it's better to have an entire worn set than an average set with one or two expensive, rare, worn coins).
Wasn't a beat-out Gothic Florin last year's ultimate winner? I hope nobody enters one this year! (I was pretty surprised - it's a pretty design but not my absolute favourite)
Some of my pictures look pretty lame in retrospect but it's too late to change
(for the record, I did make an appeal to replace one coin late with another because the replacement was in my safe-deposit box and I couldn't get it out until Monday, so I'm already a rulebreaker... we'll see if it makes it in)
Here is my idea for resolving these cases...
- Panama is North or Central America, not South.
- Turkey and Russia are both good for either Europe OR Asia, BUT you can only submit 2 coins from each across all categories (so you could put one Turkish coin in Europe and Asia, but not two in each).

Why not? These definitions are backed up by geography and it prevents abuses of the system by being able to enter the same country four times. "Cultural" distinctions between these nations are on very thin ice here.
