I was hoodwinked in last years competition

Pubblicazioni di 9
I was posting a link to the "ultimates" category in last years competition (MPCCII) to show off my Centennial halfcrown that took out the Pacific category .

I thought it'd be fun to count up how many votes I lost out to the Gothic florin by.  After I counted it up it was 8-4 for the florin in the English forum but 6-1 in the French forum for my coin, that makes a total of 10-9 for my coin overall.  MY COIN SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE GRAND FINAL

Now the ultimate final was won by Apuking's coin, but since he was donating the prize, he gave it to the second place winner.  Now I ask you is this fair?
Yeah I thought my Half Dollar beat the Canadian Dollar by a score of 12-11. I thought maybe some people may have voted via PM. I don't really know if that's allowed or if it was an honest mistake.

There have been SEVERAL incorrect winners listed in this years competiton alone.  I have advised the organiser when I have spotted them.  But my advice is if you have a coin in the competition, make sure you count up the votes and make a noise if things don't add up.
I'm not the one counting the votes, but maybe some of the votes were made after the round had closed?
Neil on your example on the French side there is a vote that has been made 2 and a half weeks later.

Yes, but one vote would make it 9-9 still and surely we would need a tie breaker.  There were no votes made significantly later than the rest in Sanjuro's case and the US coin definitely had 1 more vote than the Canadian coin.

Apuking, you say you're not in charge of counting the votes, But as I've said.  I've been doing counts this year as soon as the coins close so there's no late votes and thre have been 4 or 5 that have been incorrectly announced as the winners.  I've passed on my feedback to the organiser.  But with these inconsistancies, perhaps both you and Dptashny should both do counts and corroberate your results to make sure things have been tallied up correctly before the winner is announced.

The ones I've picked up on (I haven't counted all the threads this year so there is potentially more) Is

A2 - Baiocci listed as the loser but received more votes
C2 - Farthing listed as the loser but received more votes
D3 - Actually a tie but the French coin listed as the winner
F5 - Florin listed as the loser but received more votes.

So you can see why I request that we have more than one person counting the votes and the results corroberated.
Please discuss this with the organizator by PM. The winners from this MPCC can still be corrected at any time I'm sure.
If I remember correctly the organizator once stated that if there was a tie his vote wouldn't count, so that there is a winner in every round.
To make counting easier I could on the French side write the voting results each time (Ex. Penny 1955 6 votes, fathing 1922 5 votes...), this could make it easier.

Cheers,

I have been PMing him the results, it was the amount of inaccuracies that led me to wish for a second pair of eyes to count the results.

In the case of the tie and his vote didn't count, then it should have been the Sierra Leone coin that went through, as he voted for the French coin that was listed as the winner.

Listing the amount of votes on the French side would make things easier, but I still feel there should be a count by at least 2 people to cross check results.
I'm sure he would appreciate if when the voting closes on the English side you add a post with the voting results on the English side, then he could just add up the French and English ones.
I have just started counting on the French side and it can quickly make you dizzy with so many numbers, so I can understand that mistakes can happen when you count so many by yourself.

To Daniel: Next time when you close a round wait for me to write down the French sides results before announcing the winners, also review with Neil on this years MPCC where the winners need to be changed.
TY ;)
