has anybody met UK 1 pound #969 but from 1996?

I found out that my Welsh Dragon pound of #969 has a issue year of 1996 instead of normal date of 1995. Can anybody had the same coin from 1996? Its strange because normally 1 pounds are issued for one year only.
Any comments or similar stories?

I'm afraid one of the common traits of a counterfeit £1 coin is that they have the wrong reverse design for the mint year - yours is probably a fake.
