Merging similar countries?

As some subdivision names and the main colonizing country is the same in quite close territories, should we merge the India - Dutch with the Netherlands East Indies (FR: Indes néerlandaises)?

They were completely different coins, most coins issued in India by the dutch depicted Hindu Gods. What would be the benefit of merging these anyway?
