Well, in 2003 was made the 2 ariary coin, which was a legal issue of Madagascar and the 10 francs with monkey is from China.

But I would like to see some relevant article talking about it.

Yes, it's a token. Firstly, it's very uncommon for madagascars coins. It looks like a commemorative coin series but it isn't. And secondly, Schön catalogue has almost always better researched information than Krause. There are so many mistakes in Krause catalogue...

Yes, Ghana #36 are the same chinese monkeys. Produced without permission of the Central Bank. And did never circulate, too.

This also happened with Kiribati, Djibouti, Sierra Leone, and Bhutan. (all from 2003)
