Japanese provinces and Ryukyu Islands

Both Xavier and I have spoken on the creation of Japanese provinces and Ryukyu Islands after a recent comprehensive revamp of Japanese coinage:

Kenny: "I have a comprehensive catalogue that explains that many of the coins issued for the provinces were strictly prevented from circulating outside the borders, which is why I see the necessity to create Japanese provinces. If you would like I can put up a post on the forum and discuss it, but having knowledge on Japanese coinage we should safely agree that these coins should be listed separately.

"Ryukyu (or Okinawa) coinage is also listed under Japan although it "was an independent kingdom... from the 15th to the 19th century" (Wikipedia), much like Annam to China. We have two choices:
 1. list them under Japanese provinces since it is currently under Japan although for a long time has been officially separate and/or independent from Japan
 2. list them separately as Ryukyu Islands; although the coinage is similar to Japanese mainland coinage, this respects the sovereignty that the Ryukyu Islands have held over the centuries, and its current situation as well"

Xavier: "Creating a section for Japanese provinces seems a good idea to me. Could you please post bot on French and English forums that we plan to do it?

"About Ryukyu coinage, the question is indeed open. How many coins from this kingdom are currently listed on Numista? Could you please provide a few examples?
 If it was an independent kingdom and we have enough coins on Numista, it would make sense to create a distinct section."

In addition all Kan'ei Tsuho coinage will be separated into separate pages for different types with all varieties listed to help members identify the few hundred coins that span several centuries.
