The 1962 Aluminium issues for Riau and Irian Jaya have the same KM# and count as one and the same coins here on numista. But the edge is different ("Kepulauan Riau" vs plain edge). For me it's a different coin having in mind that the Riau coins were issued only for Riau and the Irian Jaya coins only for Irian Jaya. But if that's not possible at least I'd like to have two lines to be able distinguish the two types in our catalogue. What do you think?

I'm not orange and also in other things I'm not a Donald at all. DonChori like Don Felipe or Doña María, por favor.
100 % agreed.
And I would go a step further. These coins were only for Riau Archipelago (the ones with inscription) and Irian Barat ((West Irian, Irian Jaya, Netherlands New Guinea) (the ones without inscription) and not for Indonesia.
They should have their own entry. But I know new entries lie very sensitive here on Numista. So I would at least treat them like the Canadian provinces and make a new entry "Indonesian provinces" with subdivisions Riau Archipelago and Irian Barat.

It's logic that they have the same KM# number because in Krause they also have their own entries. So Indonesia, Riau Archipelago and Irian Barat all have for instance a KM# 5 but they all are different coins:

Yeah, I would probably support a separation of these listings - right now I am adding links between coins of the same denomination from Indonesia proper and West Papua, hopefully these will be approved. (If you ever want to help out with the Numista catalog, but feel as if you have nothing useful to add... start adding links between coins! This new functionality is nowhere close to being used to its full potential.)
I like the idea of creating a new country like Indonesian Provinces. And because nobody added a contrary opinion here I guess all numista members agree with us... So lets do it!

There is an extra reason why these should be separately listed from Indonesia. These coins represented a different currency than the Indonesian Rupiah. The West Irian coins were at par with the Dutch New Guinea Guilder, only to be replaced with Rupiah a few years later.

In the case of Riau I am less sure. The Riau Rupiah only circulated shortly and those coins may not have circulated.
I already tried to enter some Riau coins.. complete with edge photos, but they were denied.

This will be 3rd level for Indonesia, which is not ready yet for creation, at least they have separate currencies.

Has this been resolved to consider the different currencies of the different territories? I can still not find a subheading for Riau under Indonesia but I can for Irian Jaya...
