Hello.
In the catalogue of Australia has changed photos - author "Mike Bentley". In my opinion, these pictures worse than the previous, and the directory of Australian coins became not so presentable. Does anyone know why this was done?

yeah, but the same mike bentley added all of the modern commemoratives, so instead of criticizing, you should be thankful.
Hi Cyrillius

As mentioned I have updated most of the Australian Decimal Coins.

You might be right that some of the original images were ok. Where I judged that they were I left them as is. Where I thought they could be improved I uploaded images of my personal coins.

I put in many hours of work to take the photos, edit them, categorise them, upload them and then update the information. Plus I added all the missing coins and there were heaps that were missing.

If you have better photos/scans maybe you can submit them. The referee has the ability to reject or approve what is submitted.

I hope you enjoy all the new coins that are there now for you to check out.  8)

Cheers - Mike (Bentley)

Well, I was a bit annoyed that the page for Australia was being flooded with images that weren't cropped - because, of course, the standard is for coin images to appear on a featureless white background. But I wrote a tutorial on coin image cropping for exactly this kind of scenario.

Hi nalaberong - Sorry that the images annoyed you. I suppose any image is better than no image though.  8)

If the coin existed in the database and the image was bad I replaced it.
If the coin existed in the database and the image was just a representation of the coin I replaced it.
If the coin existed in the database and the image was good I left it as is.
If the coin was not in the database I added it I used my images.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of that image editing programme. I will have a look at it and see about using it to clean up my images with it. Then I can easily re-upload them to the standard that is preferred.

Just give me a little time though. I still want to get some duplicates removed first.

Cheers Mike

I have downloaded Gimp and installed it.
I have had a go at editing 1 image and have uploaded it back to numista.

This is the coin ....

When it is validated have a look and see if it is better than the one I first had there.
This is my test image.

I have uploaded new cropped pics on the 1966 to 2002 coins , and 2009 to 2015 coins. Eitan has validated a lot of them but there are still many waiting validation. It is a huge task. I have taken the opportunity to update information on the coins at the same time.

Gimp software is great to edit coin pics to make round images .. very easy to use. Hopefully I will have them all done soon.

Cheers Mike

Nice
OK ... I have finally finished editing using GIMP all the RAM Australian coin images that I originally uploaded. The images are now much nicer, round cropped images.

At the same time I have updated lots of information about the coins and corrected errors and mistakes.

All that is needed now is for Eitan the Referee for Australia to verify it all. There is a lot for you to do Eitan but it needs to be done.

Also there are duplicates in the Australian Catalogue that I have mentioned in the Duplicates Thread but they are still there and need to be sorted out as I have indicated in that Thread. Who can do this? Can Eitan as Referee for Australia do it or does it have to be an Administrator?

Looking forward to seeing all the work I have done actually come to life on the Numista website.

Cheers Mike

Finally finished verifiying all of them. :D Your work is now officially displayed in the catalog! Thanks again for taking your time to upload the nice pics!

PS: No I can not delete coin pages, since I am not a catlog admin. (YetX-D)
