I have various websites that have given permission to use the pictorial contents for Numista. Who would be in charge of that? How do I go about adding them as an approve reference source? ~ Paul

Only Xavier can approve them, you simply have to show him the E-mail conversations with these websites by sending him a private message.

From time to time I sell some coins on Ebay make sure to follow me @apuking on Ebay.
Once I found a web site where the front page says something like... You are welcome to use our photos, as long as our web site is mentioned as the source
If you can find anything similar, than you don't need to contact Xavier, all you need is to inform the referee for the coins that you are adding to the catalogue.

By the way, can you tell us what web sites?
I sent Xavier a copy of the emails exchange:

Xavier had previously made clear that pictures from Ebay or Delcampe could not be approved, only conplete websites can be added to the approved list and Ebay has only photo sources from millions of people.

Oh god, now I recall how many times I have seen Ebay in the token section.. B.

But sometimes eBay can be a simple intermediate of an authorized source as well, like numismatic shops which gave pic rights.

You can still use pictures from eBay shops that gave permission but they will not be implemented in the 'I copied the picture from a site that gave permission' list. Also keep in mind that sellers on ebay quite often use pictures that don't belong to them for items they sell often so user discretion is advised.
Got a new source  :)

If Wildwinds can use it, why wouldn't we? It would be a very useful source for us. Show us all what we need to confirm this.

And rest of the messages? "We can give you" is not enough.

The rest of the message is my reply back since he had additional questions. But regardless Todywalla Auctions gave Numista permission to use their image content. What more do you want?????

"We can give you, but" has quite different meaning than "We are granting you/We are giving you"

That is nice, but useless. Once he answers with clear statement, we can add the source.

Give versus Grant

To give something equate to a total transfer of ownership.

To grant something equate to a partial transfer of ownership.

I am sure Todywalla Auctions intended "grant" but lost in translation said "give."

The initial context from the first message clearly established motive, and their response back establishes intent. Do I have to be more lawyerly for you?

No need. He answered that he can, but he had question. You answered the question and I am still missing his answer.

I forgot about this thread, I will look through previous permissions tommorow.

We need clear statement, so we can store it if any problems arise in future.

is there any easier way to find this list of approved websites, except for searching around here for hours without finding it?
make the list public and easy to find, please: Numisdoc --> List of Approved Websites, maybe?

i just found it..Numisdoc --> Copyright of Copyright of Numista pictures (what?) --> word link in the middle of the text..

this is probably the most important page of the whole website, so it should be much easier to locate..cuz this is a joke right?

ah! wasn't easy to know that "more about numista" was equal to "here you can find websites who has granted permission for numista for using their pictures" :P i just thought it was info about numista, numista team and catalogue referees..but i admit, that was way easier :D (but still disguised :° )
